On Wednesday 2nd October 2024 at 7.30pm, we were thrilled to Welcome Rhys Roberts from The Christian Institute (CI) to Castle Street Church Tredegar!
Rhys travelled from his home in Cardiff to speak to us about the work of the CI and to encourage us as Christians to make our stand for the Truth of The Gospel in Tredegar and in these darker times.
The CI is involved in all aspects of modern life, defending and lifting high The Word of The LORD as found in The Holy Bible and supporting Christians who find themselves battling the forces of this fallen world. They offer legal advice and support, work with our Government to re-shape policy and educate/raise awareness of the issues impacting Christians today.
Rhys opened up to us the truth of many modern issues that are currently in the news and government consultation on the way to impacting our way of life. He covered: Abortion, Assisted Suicide (Euthanasia), Education, Gender and Conversion Therapy. It was very interesting and encouraging to hear how The CI is raising it’s voice on behalf of Evangelical Christians.
Rhys both opened the meeting and closed it with The Word of God, Romans 13 and expounded on the need for us to submit to authority – first to The LORD and second to the state, for our need to pray for our Leaders who God is using in the place where He has appointed them. Many Brothers and Sisters have gone before us in times of greater evil than today and they obeyed The Word, to love those who persecute them and pray for them.
Although Rhys didn’t read out the closing verses of Romans chapter 13, the advice to us is crucial – to stay awake, put on the armour of light and walk in the paths of righteous love for others.
‘And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.’ – Romans 13:11-14 (NKJV)
May God Bless you richly in Christ Jesus x
